PRODUCT MICROCOPY / UX WRITINGMicrocopy is the small pieces of text a user encounters within a product (or website) that are an inseparable part of the user experience (UX). We’re not talking about headlines or full-length content, but rather those smaller pieces of text that are part of the product itself; for example: the leading question within a search box, the examples in mandatory form fields, clear and helpful error messages, tool tips where questions are anticipated, etc.

These are the texts that can make or break the user experience, turning a possibly frustrating and unclear registration process into an enjoyable first encounter with a product. Properly written microcopy can increase form completion rates, registration rates, and time-on-site, improving results for any actionable goal.

But good microcopy doesn’t just explain, assist, and prompt, it also helps us bring the product to life by delivering messages in the brand’s unique voice, which is why the first step of a good microcopy project is the Brand Voice & Messaging Strategy. This strategy covers “what to say” (messaging) and “how to say it” (voice & tone) and will be the guideline for writing in the brand’s voice and delivering its messages effectively.

The document delivered after this process remains as a valuable internal tool for any company that has more than one person writing on behalf of the brand (whether it’s in the product or for emails, social media, and marketing materials). The Brand Voice & Messaging Strategy document helps everyone stay in-line with the agreed-upon brand character and core messages.


CHATBOT SCRIPTS ➤ A great way to add automated interactions with any audience, chatbots tie-in to the user experience and should also convey the same voice & tone of the product.

Chatbot projects include planning the conversational flow with the product owner (if needed), getting to know the product, and writing scripts according to its specific brand character.


COPYWRITING ➤ My copywriting services include product naming, slogans, and campaign copy, all based on a creative brief & thought-out strategy that’s discussed with the client beforehand, resulting in copy that’s not just trendy or “cool!” but benefits the brand in the long run.


CONSULTING ➤ Sometimes a product owner, a startup, or an in-house marketing team need to just sit down for a good old brainstorming session. These can be general strategic planning sessions, covering all content strategy basics, or focused sessions covering one necessary aspect – from re-evaluating and pinpointing the brand’s voice & tone, to re-assessing messaging and positioning strategies.
