Pleasure to Meet You

Aya Shapir - About Me.jpg

I grew up zig zagging back & forth between Israel and the US. As a native English speaker, I served in the Israeli intelligence unit 8200. After the army, I started studying Art History at Tel Aviv University, while attending copywriting classes at night at ACC (Academy of Commercial Communications). That’s where I fell in love with copywriting and found my professional path.

I transferred from TAU to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York, where I majored in Advertising & Marketing Communications. I loved it - I studied copywriting, branding, media, marketing, strategic planning, journalism, PR, and more.

Studying advertising in New York was a dream - I learned from top professionals and held two amazing internships as a copywriter in a local ad agency and at MTV Networks. But after completing my studies, and working for about a year at a small agency, it was time to go home. I ♡ NY but home is where the heart is. I moved back to Israel and settled down in Tel Aviv.

Since moving back, I’ve discovered the amazing Israeli tech scene and I’ve been lucky enough to work at some great companies - first as a copywriter, then as a marcom manager, a marketing manager, and finally as a CMO & co-founder, after joining two friends to start our own media company. I learned a lot from each company and every position, and eventually the decision to become an independent UX writer and content strategist seemed like the natural way to go. So far, I’m loving every minute of it.
